If someone appreciates a good and exciting vacation, it would be the British nationals. That’s why so many of them head down south to the sunny Greek soil any chance they get. But do Brits need a visa for Greece? What are the rules of travel? Let’s find out what are the requirements for traveling to this paradise country from the UK.

Greece Is One of the Most Popular Travel Destinations for Brits

Greece is a beautiful, sunny country in the southeastern part of Europe that has a well-deserved reputation as one of the most sought-after destinations in the world when it comes to summer holidays. The country’s incredible beaches, rich culture, stunning landscapes, and amazing Greek cuisine make it the perfect choice for those looking for a summer getaway that will leave them with enough serotonin supplies to last until their next vacation.

The level of beauty and hospitality is simply unparalleled, which is one of the reasons why around 3 million British nationals travel to Greece each year. To Brits, traveling to Greece every chance they get is an unwritten rule – almost part of their upbringing.

And when you think about it, who wouldn’t want to leave behind and get a break from the gloomy, rainy weather and the stress of everyday life for a few weeks of basking in the sun, without any worries in the world? So, is such an adventure possible with just a passport – does a UK citizen need a visa for Greece? Here is all the information you need to know before you book your next summer vacation on one of the Greek islands.

All Brits Need for a Perfect Vacation in Greece Is a Valid Passport and Good Vibes

We all know that visas and other special requirements to enter a certain country just complicate the process and dim the joy of traveling, and they can sometimes even be the reason why we give up on our dream trip. Vacations are supposed to be easy-going and relaxing, and they lose that appeal when you have to fill out lots of paperwork and wait on a visa. Luckily, if you’re traveling from the UK to Greece, you’ll be happy to know you don’t need a visa or any special paperwork besides a valid passport.

Greece is part of the Schengen area, which allows for a visa-free stay for up to 90 days for all EU and most non-EU citizens. And even though the UK is no longer part of the EU, they can still enjoy a visa-free visit to Greece. This sunny country allows you to stay for a maximum of 90 days over a period of 180 days with only a passport, no matter how many times you visit during that period or what the nature of your stay is. That’s plenty of time to enjoy some of the world’s most beautiful beaches! However, there are certain passport requirements you need to fulfill:

  • Your passport needs to be valid for at least three months before its expiration date,
  • It can’t be older than ten years,
  • You need to have one blank page per stamp in your passport.

Entry Requirements for Greece Will Be Changing in 2025.

Brits can enjoy their passport-only requirement for visiting the sunny country of Greece only until 2025. From then on, all British nationals will also need an ETIAS authorization for all countries in the Schengen area, including Greece. This document is not exactly a visa, but it is an additional mandatory requirement if you want to travel to Greece from the UK, starting from 2025.

The ETIAS authorization will be valid for three years from the starting date, and it will be mandatory regardless of the nature of your stay in these countries. So, this might be the perfect time to have that holiday you’ve always dreamed of, before the ETIAS hassle starts.
